Vegetables should be cheaper than meat

Simsufood's clear position is that vegetable meat-like products should be cheaper than meat, and by simplifying the value chain from cultivation to finished dish, our products and concepts can be used to produce meat-like products for less than 50 SEK/kg.

Who are we?

SimSuFoodS is a food company in Östergötland that develops sustainable, vegan meat and dairy-like products.

Greenhouse gas emissions in the food chain

Food consumption currently accounts for about 20% (source: SCB) of Sweden's greenhouse gas emissions, with meat and dairy products accounting for the largest share.

As much as 45 % (source: FAO) of the global production of cereals (maize, wheat, rice, soy, etc.) is used to produce animal feed. In livestock farming, less than one fifth (source: FAO) of the energy in the feed is converted into meat or dairy products. Although the "detour" via animal products requires more than 5 times as much agricultural raw material, the animal products are often cheaper than the corresponding vegetable meat and dairy-like alternatives. We at Simsufoods think this is wrong and something we challenge.

The mission

It is Our strong belief that sustainable vegan alternatives to meat and dairy-like products should be at least as tasty, healthy, easy to prepare and cheap as the animal-based alternative. To achieve this, we need to develop and challenge the established production methods and products on the market today. This is what we at SimSuFoodS see as our challenge and our mission.

The concept

Simsufood's concept is based on assembling dry products that are then mixed with water and oil at the location where the finished dish will be made. This reduces the need for transportation and removes the need to handle refrigerated or frozen goods. At the same time, it simplifies the entire processing chain to the finished food, leading to a lower cost picture and reduced greenhouse gas emissions.

How does it work?

Quality

Focusing on our own quality work is a matter of course for us, and satisfied customers are a prerequisite for achieving our long-term goals. Since the beginning of 2021, we are certified according to IP foods.
